Talk about taking something for granted. We use them every day for years, and at the same time, barely notice them. We’re talking about the hardware on our kitchen cabinetry. If the knobs and pulls on your cabinets and doors are broken, tired, or just look outdated, change them out on the cheap. This is a Small Kitchen Upgrade with a Big Impact – and only a little impact on your budget.
Eye-catching or Understated
With an endless offering of styles and looks, focus first on what you want to achieve with your kitchen update. Are you looking to make a dramatic splash with unexpected color or give your kitchen a fresh, more modern look?
Knobs or Pulls
Will you be replacing knobs or pulls?

Knobs are a no-brainer, one hole with a single screw. Most of your challenge will be having to choose from so many possibilities. No measuring necessary, just keep in mind the width of the drawer face and the profile of the knob. In other words, don’t choose a knob that will constantly be catching on your vintage cargo shorts.

On the other hand, if you’re replacing pulls, the current size is going to determine what your replacement size should be. Remove the pull from the cabinet and measure the distance between the two holes. This is the center-to-center measurement. Pulls come in a variety of sizes. Shop for those with the same center-to-center measurement. This is the standard measurement in the industry.
Take a Count Before You Go Shopping
Remember to take an accurate count of how many knobs and/or pulls you’re going to need. Now that you’ve determined what you’re shopping for, hold on to your drawers. You will be surprised (and charmed) by the Variety Of Classic And Whimsical Styles available. Stores like Home Depot offer a large variety and tips on how best to install new hardware.
